Hey there,

I messaged you before about tips on how to quit watching porn, and your PornAddictionHelp YouTube channel you directed me to really helped me out.

I appreciate what you're doing, and I hope you continue to help people become free from this evil, disgusting world known as porn. I'm ashamed I ever watched it.

Again, thank you, and I wish you all the luck in the future.

I am so glad to have found this site.

I am a happily married man, a Christian and have always talked of how much I hate pornography and how dehumanising it is. I believed it when I said it and I still believe it.

Yet, I have too often found myself watching internet porn. Not the really extreme stuff; closer to so-called "softcore," especially lesbians. I hated myself for deriving satisfaction from it.

I was sexually abused as a child and no-one believed me. Also, my parents would often go to drive-in movies when I was a little boy and after the normal features would be "erotic" films that were not listed on the marquee - usually European, sometimes dubbed or subtitled, not that it mattered. My parents treated them as almost comedic but I started becoming very interested in them.

Growing up in a pre-internet age, porn was much harder to obtain than now. It was easy enough to steal a look at my biker cousin's "Easyriders" magazine or go to a neighbourhood friend's house who somehow had loads of the "classic" '70s skin magazines: "Oui," "Genesis," and of course, "Hustler."

Especially because I was (and am) very shy and reserved, and had little actual experience with females, that moulded a lot of my imagery of women and sexuality.

The internet has brought a lot of good things, but one of its greatest evils is porn, 24/7/365.

I have suffered from severe depression most of my life and have been in and out of counselling. Thankfully, at midlife I have found a good counsellor and have finally started broaching the subject of porn.

I said I was a Christian. Christians are not immune to porn attraction and addiction! There are pastors who have got hooked on internet porn.

Each day that I do not look at porn is a new day and a successful one.

METRO CEO Suspended For Accessing Porn Through Agency's Wi-Fi
George Greanias Admits To Accessing Websites
POSTED: Thursday, July 28, 2011
UPDATED: 5:01 pm CDT July 28, 2011

HOUSTON -- METRO's president and chief executive officer has been suspended for looking at porn through the company's Internet system.METRO officials said an investigation revealed that George Greanias accessed more than a dozen adult-oriented sites of a sexual nature on 14 days from Feb. 9 to July 1.Agency officials said Greanias was on his own computer, but was logged onto the agency's Wi-Fi network.Greanias was suspended for one week without pay, officials said.METRO officials said the normal disciplinary action for a violation of this nature is a verbal reprimand, but the chairman decided that Greanias should be held to a higher standard."George Greanias has done an excellent job in the past year and three months turning the agency around and improving transit services, morale and community relations," Chairman Gilbert Garcia said. "However, George must be held accountable and the community must have confidence that the New METRO will be open and transparent."

This site has been instrumental in my recovering from living with a porn addict for over three years. I was so affected by the trauma, I ended up in counselling. I felt alone and emotionally bankrupt - taken right back to the childhood experiences of sexual abuse and rejection. So, I did what I did then, I turned to my natural sense of humour to get me through.

As a child, I hid my pain behind that humour - now I am using it for my own recovery and to help other women in the same situation. When all seems so desolate - turning the situation around and seeing what is happening, in a way that illustrates how ridiculous it is, allowed me to break through the pain. I'd broken the spell HIS porn addiction had on me and finally saw the light.

I am in the process of completing a humorous book about my own, and other women's experiences in the same situation:
'You Want Me To Do WHAT With That?! The Life Expectancy of a Relationship With a Porn Addict©.' (A second book, 'Confessions of a Love Addict©', will be following shortly, based on the women who tend to find themselves drawn to emotionally unavailable men.)

Although it is written in a humorous vein, it is nonetheless a hard hitting book. It doesn't pull any punches, it won't accept any excuses - yours or his - and it may save your sanity, and perhaps even your life!

Just a thought..... Pro-porn advocates often claim 'freedom of speech' as their right to continue to create and watch vile acts on film. Instead of trying to argue this point, would it not be better to bring porn producers up on another right?

Freedom of speech is only acceptable if it does not incite hate crimes. Surely porn that advocates extreme degradation and abuse is Inciting Hate Crimes against women. It is also desensitising younger generation of males and females to the point that these hate crimes are acceptable and even normal.

Greetings Lance and thank you for your comment below of July 19.

This is not a message or discussion board here so I won't get into the content of your post in-depth, but I just wanted to let you know that what you have shared has been read and that your pain is understood and much empathized with. It is the sort of unbelievably degrading and dehumanizing pornography that you have described that motivated the forming of this organization and the creation of this website.

As you may be aware, as we have stated it on this website in several places, our solution to this problem is education of the general public to reduce the demand for pornography and the supply of young women who participate in the pornography industry.

To help you deal with the trauma caused by being exposed to the sort of horrific pornography that you described, I recommend connecting with others of like mind at some place like Facebook. (Our Facebook page is mostly inactive for the moment until we finish constructing the new one and move everyone to it, but in the meantime I recommend the Pornography Harms Facebook page at Facebook.com/pornharms)

The best solution to feeling better about this issue, though, is engaging in some sort of productive anti-pornography activism. So please feel free to check out our page on the 101 things you can do, or to contact us through our contact page to volunteer. One easy thing that you can do to help that is very much needed, without making a full commitment to volunteer, is to help respond to the many pro-pornography comments on our video uploads at our AntiPornographyBlog channel at YouTube: YouTube.com/AntiPornographyBlog I.e. The video series that begins with Pt1 Sasha Grey on Tyra:
http://youtu.be/BxUq_zzvAaA

Thank you again for caring about this important issue and for sharing your thoughts and what you have seen. Your testimonial of how you have been harmed psychologically by being exposed to such abusive, cruel and misogynist pornography is very important. If you would like to write up your story of what you've seen and how it has affected you in more detail, which I strongly recommend as a therapeutic action, please feel free to do so and submit it at our "Share Your Story" page and we will be happy to post it on our Harm Stories page. You have definitely been harmed by your exposure to abusive pornography, which is completely understandable, so your story does belong there.

Best wishes to you,

Hello I am so glad this website exists. I have been extremely disturbed as of late with an issue that I want to bring to the attention of you all and see if there is anything you can do. Somebody else here briefly mentioned this, but I just wanted to drive home the gravity and horrific impact.

I worked with a domestic violence clinic and was researching abuse on the website and came across a website called "Facial Abuse." This is by far the most violent and degrading porn site I have ever seen in my life. The makers behind "Facial Abuse" also run "Ghetto Gaggers" and "Latina Abuse."

These websites feature men brutally forcing women to give them oral sex, slapping, spitting, choking and extreme anal and vaginal penetration. The men often times put the women in headlocks and other UFC fighter type chokeholds and The women frequently vomit. The men then proceed to hit them. Oftentimes, the women even cry. The men ridicule them more. It is clear their cries are very real, and this isn't part of the "script."

At the conclusion of these videos, the men ejaculate on the womens' faces, spit on them and the women usually cry. The men shout racist insults to the women (I saw for one Latina woman, they smeared guacamole and vomit on her face).

Further, during the whole ordeal, the men ridicule the woman by asking her insulting questions-if she is Spanish-speaking, they ask her "how do you say I'm a w*ore in Spanish?" Or they ask questions like "ever been abused like this before?"

I did some background research on the founders and they claim that it is all an act and it is no different than boxing, where adults consent to such activities. But the abuse in these films is very real, and I believe the filmamkers are heavily insulated from contract liability (they have a team of attorneys working for them).

There was apparently a case where one of the participants named "Ivy" a Ghanaian immigrant who was in one of the Ghetto Gaggers videos tried to commit suicide after making the film (not sure on the details, but read about it)

Seeing these videos broke my heart because it is clear many of these young women, though they sign a contract, are not ready for the kind of abuse they endure.

I understand the Constitution prevents these guys from being prosecuted, but these videos are widely available on youtube-type porn sites. Soon, this will become the norm and porn watchers will be stimulated by women realistically "tapping out" because of so much fierce intense physical abuse.

Once upon a time, peeking at a pair of breasts was enough to stimulate. Now, people will become accustomed to watching amateur porn actresses being penetrated anally, orally, and vaginally in the most abusive way possible, short of actually killing them. Surely this can't all be justified under the shield of contract law, no?

I assume nothing can be done (as the adage goes, if you don't like it, don't watch it) but I just had to share these abusive websites with someone because I have not been able to recover from watching the clips I saw. Again these websites are facial abuse, latina abuse, and ghetto gaggers. Please share your thoughts...I'm having trouble going to sleep at night because of what I watched.

Pornography destroyed me to the extent that one could not fathom. I watched it today, some time ago, and later felt so helpless about my addiction.
I got into it out of curiosity and now it seems like there is no escape. I cannot begin to imagine how I could get myself to see things I would never have even thought of. Pornography explores the darkest aspects of civilization which scramble your brain into thinking that it will satisfy your carnal hunger. To anyone who is watching porn, PLEASE STOP!! It will destroy you and erase your self-esteem.

This website, though, has been inspiring me for months, and I've had it with living the secret life of a pervert. They say the night is darkest before the dawn and my dawn has finally come. Starting today I am done lusting. I hope anyone who reads this can get inspired to do as I did.

Porn is a technological drug delivered through our computers. It's time we begin to control ourselves before it starts controlling us......

In my early 20's I met a man that I had strong feelings for. We moved too fast and I moved in with him without knowing him very well.

Shortly after moving in with my boyfriend, I discovered that he had been looking up porn on my computer every single morning before he went to work. It wasn’t just regular porn, but more along the lines of gay porn and searches for “pre-teens.” I waited a few months to see if this was a habit of his before confronting him on it. Well it was a habit, and it was an addiction as well. He tried to claim that he thought “pre-teens” meant that they were over 18. He then tried to claim that he thought the men he was looking at were actually women. He lied. I also found a photo picture of a transvestite in the trunk of his car.

The relationship ended and almost cost me my life.

Porn does destroy relationships and destroys marriages. It’s a terrible foundation to lay down, and a very rocky one that most likely will end in heartache and disaster.

Everyone I know that seem to have strong marriages do not have porn issues in their marriages. I think that fact speaks volumes.

Is it a problem that I masturbate to AntiPornography?

Hyuk hyuk, but seriously, porn is horrible, you guys should put a stop to it. Horrible dialogue, foul music, boring mechanical pistoning, all of it. It's like when the camera zooms in on the girl's face after she's been slapped in the face with her head dunked in the toilet, you can actually see her soul dying a bit. Hot at first, but just kind of creepy after a while.

Not sure about you guys being against BDSM though, that's just good, hitty fun.

(I apologize if some of my punctuation is off..some of the keys on my keyboard are not working properly). Anyway, I just want to state how much I absolutely love this website. I have been introduced to so many new ideologies and videos. I am 22 and a womens studies major and I am against pornography because I feel that it is a sexist byproduct of a patriarchal culture that feeds on destruction and oppression. Unfortunately, sexist objectified images of women are boys first introduction to women and also sexuality. Therefore, society teaches and trains men to always make a correlation between oppressed women and sex. No other healthy alternatives to sex are advertised to males. For women, this is not liberation or freedom, it is slavery. As Ariel Levy alluded to, it appears as if this freedom is more rigid than anything else considering there is a artifical template for female sexuality, such as long hair, big breasts, and long nails. Sexist pornography is such an insult to feminism. We can not ignore the fact that sex trafficking is a large industry, where millions of women are suffering at the hands of a sexist stupid market that capitalizes on primitive urges. Its disgusting. The fact that we even have restaurants like hooters displays how disrespectful we have become towards females, and how we are conditioned to view their choice to work there as some form of botched freedom. Just because you have the right to make a choice, does not always mean that the choice you make is a free one. Sexist pornography does not benefit anyone. It is scary to live in this society as a female. Its scary and depressing. There seems to be so much hatred for women in general. We are the one gender that is insulted the most. Reading some of the text that supplemented the Ghetto Gaggers section was horrifying. There was just so much hatred towards women. These industries are responsible for what they have done to our society. They are not reflecting what people want. They are strategically conditioning us at young ages to THINK this is what we want. I stopped watching cable in general because there were too many elements of sexism on every station. People are beginning to mirror the television and its scary. Maybe if people halted their masturbation practices for one day, and took a diversity or gender course, they would be able to understand the implications of pornography. We are acting like animals. (When I hear of sex trafficking, I laugh at those people that do not believe in evolution...they say we have not evolved from monkeys..yet what are we acting like.)

You cannot live in a society where many, many evils are going on, and
expect that your lives will not be affected by them, at some point. It is a delusion. Thus, do your part.

When women go to a bathroom in a public place (Mac Donald, Tim
Horton’s, universities, etc), sit and relax, what do they look at?
They stare at the empty door. So why not give them something to read,
that concerns them and might actually save their lives in the future.
Please print the following, and attach it (with a glue stick) to the inside
door of a female’s bathroom. [For Canada, change the number to 50,000]
Kindly forward this letter to all your female friends, living anywhere
in N. America. {Continuous effort will produce big result. Do not
let up.}

I was exposed to porn at around 8 or 9 years old and I have to say, it left a considersble impact on me and it was very unhealthy for my mind. You become mesmorized and addicted at that age. It really makes you look at women in the wrong way and it gets worse as you feed into it, just like it does with any addiction. It's a shame I've only completely stopped watching it now and I'm 25. Porn needs to be? boycotted. It might be very difficult, but if I can do it, anyone can.

Hello. I find that pornography is a lucrative business that is devastating to people, especially women, who fall into the hands of unscrupulous people.
It's so hard for me to see a beautiful woman subjected to such abuse, a woman who is possibly drugged, drunk or just suffering I cry for them to find out of this nightmare.
May want to know that here in Chile, there are plenty of illegally copied pornographic films and I am sorry that this vile business extend their networks to other countries.
But there are groups like you and a lot of sensible people who are against sexual violence and that makes me happy.
Jeremy on March 18, 2011 at 9:54 PM said:

Porn is an evil thing. It will grab you and will refuse to let go. I first saw it when I was 11, then my curiosity grew. Now that I am 17, I cant live a day without it. Every hour is a battle to resist the urge to look at it. It is hard for me to be with friends and be with girls. I can't even look at a woman anymore without thinking awful thoughts. I have tried to find a hobby, but my will power will fade. I have taken up running, and it has become very successful. Still, the desire finds a way.

My best friend asked to use my computer, and since I didn't delete my history, she found out about what I did. She felt I didn't respect women and said she didn't know me anymore. When I pass by her at school, she looks at me, and I see in her eyes a voice that says, "Why are you doing this, I don't know you anymore". Once she caught me staring at her vulgarly, but as the good friend she is, she forgave me. Now she thinks I'm a low-life. She was my soul mate. No other girl made me feel the way she did, and I've known her longer than any other friend. I loved her.

And for those of you who say porn isn't evil, tell me this: Why is it that it has hurt marriages, plunged many in the grip of addiction, degraded desperate people, and why is it many of you cringe at the thought of not having it? Isn't it that evil destroys the goodness in your heart? When was the last time you looked at a girl and didn't think about dirty thoughts?

I have always found porn so disturbing, even at 14 it was the peek when everyone got addicted. It broke my heart to find out my boyfriend couldn't understand why I hate it so much... he later admitted he lied, he is an addict. This website clears everything up, but for some reason some people are heartless enough to dismiss it.

I hated the people into the porn business but now I understand what they went through, porn causes so many problems... I can not believe how barely anyone I know has realized these reasons why it is so disgusting.

DESCRIPTION

Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality takes an unflinching look at today’s porn industry: the stories woven into the images, the impact on our culture, the effects on us as men and women, the business machine that creates and markets porn, and the growing legitimacy of porn in mainstream media. Above all, PORNLAND examines the way porn shapes and limits sexual imaginations and behaviors.

Although we are surrounded by pornographic images, many people are not aware of just how cruel and violent the industry is today. PORNLAND shows how today’s porn is strikingly different from yesterday’s Playboy and Penthouse magazines — how competition in the industry and consumer desensitization have pushed porn toward hard core extremes. And, with the advent of the internet and other digital technologies, users don’t have to wander far to access porn; todaythe average age of first viewing is about 11 for boys, and studies reveal that young men, who consume more porn than ever before, have difficulty forming healthy relationships.

PORNLAND also looks at how our porn culture affects the way women and girls think about their bodies, their sexuality and their relationships. PORNLAND: How Porn has Hijacked our Sexuality argues that rather than sexually liberating or empowering us, porn offers us a plasticized, formulaic, generic version of sex that is boring, lacking in creativity and disconnected from emotion and intimacy.

Shared Hope International specifically focuses on fighting the demand for commercial sexual exploitaiton, including addressing pornography as a very significant demand factor for sex trafficking.

Please see their excellent report on this issue:

Pornography: Creating Demand for International Sex Trafficking

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Pornography is a marketing device for sex trafficking: It normalizes degradation and violence as acceptable and even inevitable parts of sex, and uses the bodies of real women and children as objects. The difference between pornography and erotica is clear in the roots of the words themselves -- porne means females slaves, eros means love -- so pornography, like rape, is about violence and domination, not sex. Millions of lives depend on our ability to separate pornography from erotica, and to disentangle violence from sexuality."
Gloria Steinem, 2006
For information about Gloria Steinem's important work of fighting against the harms of pornography, sex trafficking and other forms of sexual exploitation and abuse, including videos and an audio interview, please see our page on Gloria Steinem. Click here.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO.
Please remember that it is not up to AntiPornography.org, the other organizations listed on this page, the government, or "someone else" to do the entire job of fighting against the devastating harms of pornography, prostitution, trafficking, and other forms of sexual exploitation or abuse. It is an enormous job and the responsibility lies with each and every one of us to do our part as part of the bigger team of those who are choosing to be part of the solution of creating a more just and humane world for everyone, rather than be part of the problem.
So thank you in advance for whatever you are able to contribute to the cause, whether in the form of a tax-deductible donation or your actions. What you do does matter, so for the sake of all those across the world who are being exploited and abused, and for the sake of the future of humanity, please do what you can to create a more compassionate and safer society for all.
Thank you for whatever you are able to give or do to help create a better world for everyone, especially for women, children and future generations.
 YOUR SUPPORTIVE ACTIONS & YOUR DONATIONS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
THEY CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
