"The new documentary and book chronicle the shocking sex lives of teen girls. You'll be surprised to learn what activities they engage in and why they do it. Hear from the author and filmmaker, Sharlene Azam, and find out why other girls may be the biggest threat to your daughters safety. Sharlene Azam examines the recent emergence of teenage prostitution in affluent suburbs. Middle class girls as young as 12 are having sex with up to seven men a night, several times a week, so they can go shopping. This book and film are a wake up call for parents showing them how girls are groomed by our culture into seeing sex as "no big deal" and the attention-getting behavior that is leading some girls into trading sex for money, drugs or clothes."

From the filmmaker, from the prologue to the book:
"I'd begun having threesomes at a really young age" - Rachael,16
"Oral Sex Is The New Goodnight Kiss is about the growing phenomenon of middle-class girls trading sex for money, drugs and luxury goods. “I can work at KFC and make 100 bucks a week, or I can make $400 a night for sex,” Lauren, 15, explained. Lauren was part of an Edmonton high school prostitution ring – one involving over 50 girls.
Curious to learn how girls, who attend school and live at home, are lured into the sex trade, I interviewed teachers and counselors at schools across Canada. I discovered that school girls are working as “recruiters” in exchange for money or drugs. They befriend girls at their school then introduce them to pimps.
Some of the prettiest girls from the most successful families are prostituting. They are being targeted at their schools and at malls – places we consider safe. And, the predator is often an acquaintance. “The youngest girl I recruited for prostitution was 10. I didn’t care. I would just bring in all these stupid little girls,” explained Leigha, 15. Of the high school girls he was prostituting, Luu Dang, 35, says, “White girls don’t really mind having sex with men for money. They’re not like Chinese girls. White girls only care about money”.
Girls live in a culture where sexuality is tied to celebrity, status and money. What happens to young girls who are conditioned to feel empowered only when they are the sexual center of attention? “When you see really hard solid men lose their shell, that’s really a powerful thing and it is all the time whatever kind of sex it is. I never knew I had so much power,” explains Rachael, 16. “Both my girls crave the spotlight. They love being the center of attention,” explains Gwen, a biologist. “As a mother you really don’t want to think your kid can trade sex, but I knew [Rachael] was engaging in all kinds of sexual behaviors and guys would buy her clothes for sure. It’s interesting that she thought trading sex was a form of being powerful because to me it’s the ultimate in submission – selling your body.”
What happens to girls who are sexually bullied throughout elementary and high school? Angie, says, “[Lauren] felt as though she was branded when she lost her virginity and that she can’t shake the slut label. I think when you are treated like a sex object, and called names, you believe that that is all you are worth”.
All of the girls I interviewed who have had sex in exchange for money, drugs or merchandise are nice girls, pretty girls from good neighborhoods – girls who could be your own daughters, nieces, sisters, friends, neighbors."

Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexualitytakes an unflinching look at today’s porn industry: the stories woven into the images, the impact on our culture, the effects on us as men and women, the business machine that creates and markets porn, and the growing legitimacy of porn in mainstream media. Above all, PORNLAND examines the way porn shapes and limits sexual imaginations and behaviors.
Although we are surrounded by pornographic images, many people are not aware of just how cruel and violent the industry is today. PORNLANDshows how today’s porn is strikingly different from yesterday’s Playboy and Penthouse magazines — how competition in the industry and consumer desensitization have pushed porn toward hard core extremes. And, with the advent of the internet and other digital technologies, users don’t have to wander far to access porn; todaythe average age of first viewing is about 11 for boys, and studies reveal that young men, who consume more porn than ever before, have difficulty forming healthy relationships.
PORNLAND also looks at how our porn culture affects the way women and girls think about their bodies, their sexuality and their relationships. PORNLAND: How Porn has Hijacked our Sexuality argues that rather than sexually liberating or empowering us, porn offers us a plasticized, formulaic, generic version of sex that is boring, lacking in creativity and disconnected from emotion and intimacy.

"DEMAND" - A Documentary by Shared Hope International
This excellent documentary by the anti-sex trafficking organization Shared Hope International is about demand factors for sex trafficking, one of the most significant of which is pornography. It also addresses how all forms of commercial sexual exploitation such as pornography, stripping and prostitution are connected to all other forms such as sex trafficking and sex slavery. Please visit EndDemand.org to learn more about how demand for sex trafficking is created by those individuals (mostly men) who purchase women and children for sex.
"Pornography is a marketing device for sex trafficking: It normalizes degradation and violence as acceptable and even inevitable parts of sex, and uses the bodies of real women and children as objects. The difference between pornography and erotica is clear in the roots of the words themselves -- porne means females slaves, eros means love -- so pornography, like rape, is about violence and domination, not sex. Millions of lives depend on our ability to separate pornography from erotica, and to disentangle violence from sexuality."

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO.
Please remember that it is not up to AntiPornography.org, the other organizations listed on this page, the government, or "someone else" to do the entire job of fighting against the harms of pornography, prostitution, trafficking, and other forms of sexual exploitation or abuse. It is an enormous job and the responsibility lies with each and every one of us to do our part as part of the bigger team of those who are choosing to be part of the solution of creating a more just and humane world for everyonel rather than the problem. So thank you in advance for whatever you are able to contribute to the cause, whether in the form of a tax-deductible donation or your actions. What you do does matter, so for the sake of all those across the world who are being exploited and abused, and for the sake of the future of humanity, please do what you can to create a more compassionate and safer society for all.
Thank you for whatever you are able to give or do to help create a better world for everyone, especially for women, children and future generations.
