However there are many other ways that you can help both this organization and/or the cause in general:
-- You can check out and do some of the many actions we list on our page of suggestions here:
-- For volunteers from countries who speak languages other than English, we recommend that you check out our resources section at the bottom of every page of this website and find an organization that is in your country (or one that speaks your native language) that you can volunteer for. If you can't find one there we recommend that you search online. If for any reason you cannot find an anti-pornography or anti-sex trade organization in your country, (or one that speaks your language), then we recommend that you start one, as such organizations are needed in every country around the world and in all languages.
~~~ Thank you for your interest in volunteering and for whatever you end up doing to help support the cause. Best wishes to you for much success!
Greetings! Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help with the work of AntiPornography.org. Our primary goal is to educate people about the harms of pornography and related forms of sexual exploitation in order to: 1) lessen the demand for pornography, prostitution, and trafficking and the use of them, (and therefore the harm done by them), and 2) reduce the supply of exploited individuals enteringinto the sex industry, who are then harmed by that industry.
AntiPornography.org is already very successful in accomplishing these goals, but we are glad to accept quality volunteer help to reach even more people and get many more results on an even larger scale. (By helping us with: 1) Our existing projects 2) Our planned future projects, which will be started once our current projects are fully completed and are being properly maintained. We are not looking for help in regards to other new projects proposed by anyone else, unless the person proposing them is willing to do all or almost all of the work required.)
If you are interested in volunteering to help with this cause, and you are mature, dedicated, responsible, conscientious, dependable, respectful, self-disciplined, completely trustworthy, and willing to do the work agreed upon and/or assigned to you, (after it is mutually agreed upon), please fill out the form lower down on this page. (After reading all the information below.) Thanks!
Currently AntiPornography.org needs help with or will accept help with any or all of the below tasks and many more that are similar or related:
Management of our mailing list and setting up and managing a regularly sent out newsletter
Posting at and management of our 30+ social media accounts, including wrtiting original blog posts.
Responding to viewer comments on our YouTube videos at our multiple YouTube channels and to other comments on our social media platforms. Especially needed is someone to regularly respond to the many pro-pornography commenters at YouTube in a mature, respectful and rational manner.
Expansion and improvement of existing pages of this website. (Proofreading, editing and updating of existing content as well as adding to it, etc.)
Checking all links on this website to ensure that they are active, and providing correct current links for the ones that are not.
Creation of original anti-porn images (eg. slogans) to post at Instagram and elsewhere.
Creation of professional looking buttons for people to add to their websites and blogs, etc., to promote AntiPornography.org (See examples here.)
Creating spreadsheets of posts for our Twitter accounts, such as anti-porn quotes, etc.
Locating peer-reviewed scientific data on the harms of pornography, prostitution, sex trafficking, sadism, masochism, and sadomasochistic pornography, that is available to be posted on this website, and for which permission for posting has been obtained if needed and/or appropriate. (Ideally published reports and studies, and preferably ones that are available in full on the Internet)
Regular backing up all of the content on this website and all of our social networking sites.
Creation of original content for this website and our social networking sites at YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Wordpress, Tumblr and Instagram. (Eg. Written materials and especially original anti-pornography videos for YouTube. For many examples of original anti-pornography videos created by us and others please see the videos and playlists at our our AntiPornographyOrg YouTube channel.) Particularly useful would be: 1) Original video interviews and video footage of current and former well-known pornography performers that can be obtained at pornography conventions and elsewhere, which we would then post at YouTube with AntiPornography.org commentary and response, 2) Original video interviews of anti-pornography authors, activists and individuals addressing the harms of pornography, and 3) Original videos done by professional-looking people with a script that we will provide about the harms of pornography or prostitution, etc. (Usually personal harm stories.) The script will be read out loud, while looking mostly at the camera and speaking directly to the audience in an engaging and heartfelt manner. (Please note, though, that any and all well-done and effective original videos speaking out against the harms of pornography are needed and are welcome!)
Finding and posting all relevant anti-porn, anti-prostitution, anti-sex trafficking, anti-sexual abuse and related Creative Commons and other legally available content at YouTube to our appropriate YouTube channels.
Fundraising -- so that we can afford to hire qualified part-time and full-time staff to maintain and significantly expand our existing educational Internet projects. These projects have already reached over 8 million people so far over the past five years, and they have achieved consistent results in getting people to stop using, supporting, and participating in pornography and other forms of sexual exploitation. We can reach and help many more millions of people if we have enough committed, long-term, trained and salaried personnel to make that happen.
Note to those who want to do anti-pornography projects and activities other than the above: We are open to other projects being proposed to us that you are willing to do at least 90% of the work for. Other than that, we can't take on any new projects because it is already extremely challenging just to properly maintain our 30+ existing and very time consuming projects/sites, let alone expand them per our plans for them. (This is why we are interested in volunteers -- to help us with already existing projects.) If you decide to do a project on your own, we are open to linking to any relevant online resources or projects that you create. (Or to any online documentation of any off-line projects that you might do.) You can let us know about them through our contact page.
Note to those interested in getting current laws addressing pornography enforced: Please note that is not what our organization does. We recommend that you contact Pornography Harms. (PornHarms.com)
Note to those interested in more feminist-based/focused anti-pornography activism than what we do: We recommend that you check out and contact the anti-pornography feminist organization Stop Porn Culture and the feminist Anti-Porn Activist Network. (Please note: We are indeed a feminist organization in that we support the basic principles of feminism and we focus on the harm done to women in regards to pornography and the sex trade, etc.. Nonetheless, in order to reach the broadest possible audience, we are more general and mainstream in our approach than some other feminist organizations. In light of this, some feminist individuals might find other organizations to be a better fit if they are seeking something solely focused on feminist activism.)
Note to those interested in conservative or faith-based activism: Please note that we are a secular, nonpartisan organization and do not include or address politics, religion or faith of any sort in any of our work. If you are religious or conservative yourself and interested in volunteering with a conservative or faith-based organization, please find one that is a good fit for you. There are many that are listed in the resources in the bottom section of every page of this website, and in particular you might be interested in checking out Pornography Harms. (Most of their activism is secular, but they are run by faith-based conservatives.)
Note to those who cannot commit at least ten hours per week or who are are not interested in doing any of the listed activities above that we have stated that need to be done to assist this organization and the work we currently do: Please check out our many suggestions on our page 101+ Ways You Can Help to Combat the Harms of Pornography. Thanks!
Thank you to everyone for your understanding and respecting of our current circumstances and priorities, and thank you especially to anyone and everyone who participates in the cause in any way whatsoever, including volunteering for this organization or for any other. Your efforts are truly important and are very much needed and appreciated!
NOTE: The below form requires that volunteer applicants agree to a number of different professional standards as a volunteer for this organization. Although some of the requirements may seem inordinately strict, please note that: 1) These requirements are based on extensive experience in dealing with volunteers and other activists, 2) They are no tougher than the standards required for most regular employment positions elsewhere, and 3) They have proven to be necessary for the success of this organization and cause. It is important to understand that this cause and its success are critically important to the future of humanity, and as such volunteer work for this cause should be done with the same high level of professionalism, conscientiousness and commitment that would be required as a paid employee for any professional or high-level organization or company.
If for any reason a prospective volunteer does not wish to or cannot agree to these terms, we respectfully suggest that this person volunteer for a different organization, or perhaps that they engage in activism on their own, in their own way, on their own terms, and on their own schedule. For many ideas of different types of activism that one can do, please check out our page 101+ Ways You Can Help to Combat the Harms of Pornography.
Thank you once again for understanding and respecting the circumstances and position of this organization, and the need to treat this cause with the respect, professionalism and commitment that it deserves.
Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexualitytakes an unflinching look at today’s porn industry: the stories woven into the images, the impact on our culture, the effects on us as men and women, the business machine that creates and markets porn, and the growing legitimacy of porn in mainstream media. Above all, PORNLAND examines the way porn shapes and limits sexual imaginations and behaviors.
Although we are surrounded by pornographic images, many people are not aware of just how cruel and violent the industry is today. PORNLANDshows how today’s porn is strikingly different from yesterday’s Playboy and Penthouse magazines — how competition in the industry and consumer desensitization have pushed porn toward hard core extremes. And, with the advent of the internet and other digital technologies, users don’t have to wander far to access porn; todaythe average age of first viewing is about 11 for boys, and studies reveal that young men, who consume more porn than ever before, have difficulty forming healthy relationships.
PORNLAND also looks at how our porn culture affects the way women and girls think about their bodies, their sexuality and their relationships. PORNLAND: How Porn has Hijacked our Sexuality argues that rather than sexually liberating or empowering us, porn offers us a plasticized, formulaic, generic version of sex that is boring, lacking in creativity and disconnected from emotion and intimacy.
ADDICTION MESSAGE BOARDS & DISCUSSION FORUMS FOR HELP & SUPPORT:
(Note: The No Porn Northampton FAQ is in the bottom half of their sidebar. In addition to the usual questions about pornography it addresses questions and concerns about activism against sexually oriented businesses such as "adult bookstores.")
"Pornography is a marketing device for sex trafficking: It normalizes degradation and violence as acceptable and even inevitable parts of sex, and uses the bodies of real women and children as objects. The difference between pornography and erotica is clear in the roots of the words themselves -- porne means females slaves, eros means love -- so pornography, like rape, is about violence and domination, not sex. Millions of lives depend on our ability to separate pornography from erotica, and to disentangle violence from sexuality."
Gloria Steinem, 2006
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO.
Please remember that it is not up to AntiPornography.org, the other organizations listed on this page, the government, or "someone else" to do the entire job of fighting against the devastating harms of pornography, prostitution, trafficking, and other forms of sexual exploitation or abuse. It is an enormous job and the responsibility lies with each and every one of us to do our part as part of the bigger team of those who are choosing to be part of the solution of creating a more just and humane world for everyone, rather than be part of the problem.
So thank you in advance for whatever you are able to contribute to the cause, whether in the form of a tax-deductible donation or your actions. What you do does matter, so for the sake of all those across the world who are being exploited and abused, and for the sake of the future of humanity, please do what you can to create a more compassionate and safer society for all.
Thank you for whatever you are able to give or do to help create a better world for everyone, especially for women, children and future generations.
YOUR SUPPORTIVE ACTIONS & YOUR DONATIONS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
ALSO PLEASE LIKE OUR FAN PAGE AT FACEBOOK BELOW, AND PLEASE SUPPORT THE CAUSE BY SHARING ANTI-PORN AND RELATED ARTICLES, RESOURCES AND COMMENTS WITH US THERE. THANKS! WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!
